This past Sunday (Jan 28) I traveled to the bay area to a new show put on by the folks from the great Alameda show. The event takes place indoors in the same building as the Hillsboro show. The shows are scheduled for the last Sunday of every month, and are always indoors. I am not sure how many dealers were there, but there were at least 150 or more. The items were quality, and there was a lot to choose from. I met up with Rick Petteford there and purchased some great tiles from him. Two of them are 8" Hispano Moresque, and the other is 6" by the same company. As well, I found this tile table with 6 tiles of unusual glaze. Since I had not seen one like it before, I had to buy it :-) I was told that this tile set was made by Taylor in their later years of business. After the show, I had the chance to browse a few shops and I found these Bauer batter bowls and a small orange bean pot.
BE SURE to attend the LA POTTERY SHOW this coming weekend. You can find more info on the show by clicking HERE |

This past Monday (Feb 5th) I traveled to the Monterey area to make some deliveries and to do a little shopping. During my trip I made it to Moss Landing. Moss Landing is one of my favorite places to go, and is also home to one of the best outdoor antique faires. There are many shops there and I found some real goodies!! These two tile tables were both purchased at a new shop there. Both the tile sets are made by Taylor. The 6 tile set is very hard to find with the middle tiles. One of the middle tiles in the 6 tile set is actually signed. Finding a signed tile like this is very rare as only 10-15 % of the tiles were ever signed. After Moss Landing, I made my way to Soquel. Soquel is near Santa Cruz off HWY 1 and is a great place to shop for antiques. When I was there looking around, I found a wonderful Garden City oil jar in light blue or "Robins egg" blue. It needs a little TLC but that is no problem for my friends at Yesterware!!
And last but not least by any means is this GREAT candle holder made by Owens in Ohio. My friend Bruce found this great piece at the Serendipity antique show in Fresno. The glaze is called Frog Skin and is quite rare. The photos do not do this piece justice at all, but I wanted to post a few so you can see how cool this arts and crafts pottery piece really is.
